What this does not measure

This page records a prospective duration estimate. It does not measure attention quality, concentration, intelligence, mental health, or productivity. The attempt remains in this browser session and is not sent anywhere.

Why this clock exists

A peer-reviewed study of prospective duration estimation found that directing attention toward time changed people's estimates, while dividing attention with another task shortened perceived duration. This page removes a clock face but cannot remove awareness of the task itself. The two revealed lines preserve that tension: sixty measured seconds stays fixed while one experienced minute may occupy more or less space.
