Instrument 03 / seconds to minutes
Breath Clock
Press and hold the large control during an inhale. Release it at the start of an exhale, then press again when the next inhale begins. Each completed cycle adds one measured curve. Demonstration mode is clearly labeled and uses no sensor.
Demonstration mode changes state every few seconds until you use the hold control.
What this does not measure
This page records how long you hold and release a browser control. It does not sense airflow, oxygen, lung volume, respiratory health, or a recommended breathing rate. Measurements remain in this browser session and are not sent anywhere.
Why this clock exists
A review from Seattle Children's Research Institute and the University of Washington describes breathing as a dynamic rhythm whose phases can be generated and adjusted independently. This clock keeps only the visitor's press and release intervals, then layers them as curves rather than prescribing a cadence. The growing ribbon shows repetition with variation: successive cycles belong together without needing to be identical.
