What this does not measure
This is a visual metaphor for elapsed time and changing recollection. It does not model cognition, test recall, diagnose memory, or infer the importance or accuracy of any moment.
Why this clock exists
Research on time judgments distinguishes prospective estimates built while an interval unfolds from retrospective estimates shaped after it ends. A peer-reviewed review notes that longer retrospective judgments depend more strongly on the structure and availability of memory traces. This instrument turns that idea into sediment, not a cognitive model: recent marks remain separate while older ones crowd together and lose visual certainty.
