Instrument 07 / days and weeks
Habit Clock
Each vertical thread is one of the latest 28 days. Mark today to add its crossing strands, undo it, or clear the entire local pattern. Open spaces remain visible as part of the textile.
The fictional demonstration shows how a pattern can grow. Your first action replaces it.
Your marks are stored only in this browser's localStorage. Clear this pattern removes them from this browser.
What this does not measure
This cloth records only marked calendar days. It does not measure automaticity, effort, virtue, productivity, health, or the strength of a habit. A missed day stays as an open thread rather than a failure.
Why this clock exists
A recent systematic review of habit-formation studies found wide variation in the time repeated behaviors took to become automatic, with results depending on the behavior, person, timing, and context. The loom avoids a promised threshold and keeps every day in view. Repetition adds crossing strands, while unmarked dates retain structural space, making continuity and interruption parts of the same cloth.
