Why this clock exists

Unicode's Tamil encoding grew from the Indian ISCII standard, and a dedicated Tamil zero was added in Unicode 4.1 in 2005. On this face, the quantities and place values remain familiar while every digit changes shape. The paired readings resist the idea that one set of symbols is naturally numerical. A time can be immediately legible to one reader and patiently learned by another.
